One of my friends had messaged me the following which questioned the authenticity of Shah Jahan's love for Mumtaz.
We know Taj Mahal as a symbol of Love. But the other lesser known facts:
1. Mumtaz was Shajahan's 4th wife out of his 7 wives.
2. Shahjahan killed Mumtaz's husband to marry her.
3. Mumtaz died in her 14th delivery.
4. He then married her sister.
Question arises, where the hell is the Love?
Now, this is how I choose to defend Shah Jahan's eternal love for Mumtaz.
Doubt 1: Mumtaz was Shajahan's 4th wife out of his 7 wives. Where is love?
Clarification: Shah Jahan built the Taj Mahal only for Mumtaz, his 4th wife. This is Love!
Doubt 2: Shahjahan killed Mumtaz's husband to marry her. Where is Love?
Clarification: Shah Jahan loved Mumtaz so much that he killed her husband to get her. This is Love!
Doubt 3: Mumtaz died in her 14th delivery. Where is Love?
Clarification: Do you need any more proof of how much he actually loved her? :P
Doubt 4: After Mumtaz's death, Shah Jahan married her sister. Where is Love?
Clarification: Shah Jahan loved Mumtaz to such an extent that he married her sister in whom he saw Mumtaz's reflection. This is Love! :)
PS: I myself have not been able to figure out the actual reason for putting down this post, so don't torment me by asking the reason for the same. You are free to use your intellectual cerebral to find out the moral of this post and fir mujhe bhi bata do yaar. ENJOYYY! :)

ReplyDeleteShahjahan never loved Mumtaj. He only made Tajmahal to spread his name allover the world. He never took care of her & used her as a birth-machine.For this reason he married her sister after her death to produce more child.

he did so since he dont want any other monument to b construct or replace such beauty in the place of taj mahal

Welcome to My Voice, My Space!
Just came across with your post. Kindly do not post anything without verifying facts:
ReplyDelete1. Mumtaz was Shajahan's 4th wife out of his 7 wives. FALSE, she was his first wife. He married her when she as 14 & Shah Jahan was 15. It was after her death, he married twice - Akbarabadi Mahal & Kandahari Mahal. According to the official court chronicler Qazwini, the relationship with his other wives "had nothing more than the status of marriage. The intimacy, deep affection, attention and favor which His Majesty had for the Cradle of Excellence [Mumtaz Mahal] exceeded by a thousand times what he felt for any other."
2. Shahjahan killed Mumtaz's husband to marry her. FALSE. It was their 1st marriage.
3. Mumtaz died in her 14th delivery. TRUE. She was his favourite wife. At that time, 14 children were nothing.
4. He then married her sister. FALSE. Refer #1.

Deletemumtaz was not his first wife... she was just engaged to shah jahan when she was 14..but he was not married to her for 5 yrs... However, Shah Jahan married the daughter of great-grandson of Shah Ismail of Persia with whom he had a daughter, his first child... then he married mumtaz wen she was 19 yrs old..she even is told shah jahan not to have children with his other wives.. and he obeyed it...

ReplyDeleteWhere is love in Taj Mahal: -
1. Mumtaj was 4th wife of shahjahan out of seven (shared love?)
2. Shahjahan killed first husband of Mumtaj to marry her (forced love?)
3. Mumtaj died during her 14th delievery (Ohh my god .. seems too much of love)
4. After death of Mumtaj Shahjahan married her younger sister (love transfered??)
5. Shahjahan handicapped the artists after completion of TajMahal (Cruelity in love?)
After all, Tak Mahal is a Hindhu Temple. It wasn't build by Shahjahan. It was just remodeled. Common, after the death of Mumtaz, he was so busy with his new wives that where will he have time for building a new Mahal.
yeah its true guys,i m shockd man, where the hell is love,i dnt c it
ReplyDeleteThis is not true please do not believe!!
ReplyDeleteShah Jahan and Mumtaz were not married at 14 and 15 years of age there were just a kind of engagement , it happened in 1607 when Mumtaz was only 14 years of age. They waited for five years to marry each other . They officially got married in 1612. Source Widipedia

anonymous thankyou ....
ReplyDeleteSHER AFGAN WAS D FIRST HUSBAND OF MUMTAZ... nd after her death her sister Noor Jehan married shah jahan. This is said by some historians and sites. :\
ReplyDeleteNoor Jehan is the wife of Jehangir and Sher Afgan is the father of Mumtaz
Deletehahaha good1 ! kanika is drunk !
DeleteMumtaz was not Noor Jehan's daughter. She was her niece, Noor Jahan was Jahengir's favourite wife. Ladli was Noor Jahan only child and married to Shahriyar , Shah Jehan's younger brother.
DeleteThese facts are not true.
ReplyDeletePlease do not spread such idiotic messages.
Behave like educated people.
Most of the facts are not true.

heyyyyyyyyy plz give me r8 ans.......
ReplyDeleteMumtaz was 14 years old when she got married to shahjaha.I mean it was 1st marriage of shahjaha as well as Mumtaz
ReplyDeleteAlways being the follower, would not give any realtime truth of Taj Mahal. Not all history is correct about Mughals.
ReplyDeleteRegardless of what anyone thinks, there is some thoughtful information that indicates that the Taj Mahal was never built by Shah Jahan. Some say the Taj Mahal pre-dates Shah Jahan by several centuries and was originally built as a Hindu or Vedic temple/palace complex, and that Shah Jahan merely acquired it from its previous owner, the Hindu King Jai Singh. This is not unlike the many other buildings that were acquired by the Muslim invaders to be used for their own purposes. The point to consider is how much more of India's history has been distorted if the background of such a grand building is so inaccurate.
Prince
dont fight for the past...let be together for the future..:)
ReplyDelete"Let be together for the future" so that they can again do things to us in the same manner and in future some guys can again say let us live together?
DeleteThis is shameful. He killed her husband for her. This is love? If somebody killed you to have your wife, how would you feel. Maybe that should happen to you. In the name of love.
ReplyDeleteThat was his father who mhad Noor Jahan's husband killed. Shajahan met Mumtaz when he was 14 and she was 15. Shajahan was a selfish man, did not take care of mother less children, anyone who has even studied his life know that his hair turned white within a few month and turned old and bent with in 2 years that people in court did not recognize him. I wish Indian would know a little more about their own history instead of depending on fake info
DeleteShameful to see the foolish IT kids. They dont read books, refer the facts, dont use their brain....simply share the messages like this.
ReplyDeleteThere were few guys in between 1638-1640 namely Fray Sebastian Manrique and J A de Mandelslo from Europe but they either dont mention construction of Taj Mahal or say that only abt 1000 workers working on gardens and other things were there. So who made the building? If anyone has some knowledge please share but dont site British, communist or brown British historians.
ReplyDeleteGuys plz do go through the link and understand the actual facts behind the so called epitome of love!
ReplyDeletethanks!

HI
DeleteMumtaj mahal wore Salwar kameez and salwar suits.
DeleteTaj Mahal was Tejo Mahalay a Temple of Lord Shiva
ReplyDeletehttp://www.hindujagruti.org/news/13043.html
EVERY THING IN INDIA and Probably the WORLD, maybe the entire universe WAS A SHIVA TEMPLE!!!!! Specially if they are Muslim monument. So Azmir was a Shiva Temple and so was the White House.
DeleteMost people here seem to depend on PN Oaks, fake historian, proffesor and over all crakpot. Taj Mahal was not build on a Hindu Temple but a land bought from Hindu Raja. His guy also said that the Kaaba was a Hindu Temple, I wonder how that would be since the Kaaba was built Prophet Ibrahim ( phoh) and since non muslims are not allowed into Mekkah how would he have not the research. Indian Hindus who hate Muslims believe in these 2 facts but when it comes to his other claims like the Vatican was also a Shiv Temple or the same about the Church of England they are quite. LOL. Just look up PN Oaks.
ReplyDeletestop humiliating the history
ReplyDeleteI am impress..............................................
DeleteNo doubt, Shahjahan was punished by the god. His ending days were too worst. His son Aurangazeb was kept in house arrest till his death. It was a message to the every human being and political leader that do good while you are in power.

It's actually TEJO MAHALAYA built in 1155 AD

They should use archaeologists to determine the age. That will make it easy for us to find the truth.
DeleteHe wanted 14 children from her, thus using her as a birth machine.
ReplyDeleteWhere is love in this?
He married Mumtaj's sister.
This shows that he only had lust and not love.
He kills her husband to marry her.
Now where the heck is there love in this
Such idiotic reasons for saying he loved her is disturbing, for it shows you don't know the difference between love and 'lust'.
I personally agree with you.To add to Shah jahan married her at the age of 19 ,so love at this age is a mixture of logic and emotions, making a better combination before and after this age. Moreover as per wiki inofrmation he has 9 wives with Mutaz at 2nd number.
ReplyDeleteYou use the word "love" with most illogical explainations, i dont think you mean what you think love means
